Here are two creative camping conversions: a practical Fiat Panda camping conversion to Fabian’s simple 1-person jogger setup.

“My name is Fabian and I have been living full-time in a Fiat Panda for about 4 months (going towards 5 months). I have a room in my parent’s house where I keep a few things (which will be used for further conversion). But otherwise everything I own is in this car. I ordered a new Dacia Jogger 5 weeks ago which I hope to be able to pick up in the course of next week. To close this chapter I thought I should perhaps share my build with the world again to show how easy it can be done.

I don’t use a mattress, just a thin foam mat under the green fabric.”

And Fabian’s Dacia Jogger single person camping conversion:

In this video, Fabian introduces his new setup in his 2024 Dacia Jogger, which he has owned for just over a week. He starts with an exterior tour, highlighting the car’s ample length that suits his height of 186 cm perfectly. He compares it to his previous Fiat Panda setup.

Key Modifications:

  1. Water System: Fabian installed a 20L canister with a custom valve setup, connected to an electric Dometic Go Hydration water tap, which he can use both inside and outside the car.
  2. Sleeping Arrangement: He uses a 65 cm wide Expad camping mat, which is thin yet comfortable enough for his needs. The mat is easy to clean and practical compared to his old setup.
  3. Storage Solutions: The main structure is a simple Kallax shelf from IKEA, secured with brackets. He keeps his sleeping gear, tools, and some supplies organized in this setup. He also installed blackout curtains for privacy and temperature control.
  4. Electronics and Power: A battery charged by the car’s alternator powers his devices. He runs minimal cables to keep the setup neat.
  5. Other Features: Fabian keeps a camping chair, winter gear, training bands, and other small items stored efficiently. He also has a lamp for illumination and basic self-defense tools for safety.

Daily Use and Flexibility: Fabian’s setup allows him to travel freely with all necessary belongings in his car. He emphasizes the importance of being prepared for spontaneous trips and ensuring comfort and safety on the road. The car serves both as his home and travel companion, enabling him to enjoy nature without concerns about excessive possessions.

Fabian concludes by appreciating the practicality and freedom his setup provides, allowing him to enjoy spontaneous adventures like his current trip to the Edersee.

“I’ve been in the Jogger for about 2 weeks now and now I also have an electric water tap (Dometic Go Hydration Water Faucet) and a power station (which is hidden under the front seat), an Ecoflow River 2 with which I charge all my devices and which is permanently connected to the rear 12V plug.”

“For the shelves I use an Ikea Kallax 1×4 shelf with a few drawers as you can see in the pictures, I also used the surface as a workbench. For cooking I also used my simple screw-on gas cooker.”

Fabian has built a flat floor (with car carpet) on which he can easily attach the furniture and store a few smaller things underneath.
